Hello,

It's been a while since I wrote a journal, hasn't it? Well, I can barely contain my excitement and facebook only goes so far! :P

My husband and I have decided to adopt a Blue Quaker parrot! I've already spoken with the breeder and she is a very loving, caring person who clearly knows her stuff. I've been doing a lot of research on them ever since....well.... I guess I haven't told anyone here yet....one of my pet rat's Penny, passed away a few weeks ago, and I'm still crushed about it. Juno currently has a mammary tumor, but I just don't have anyone in my area who will operate on small animals. So it's only a matter of time with her as well, it seems :(

Rather than getting any more small animals, whose short lifespans just rip me apart, we're doing the long haul with the parrot. We are waiting for the cage to come before we go pick her up, but the deposit is down so s/he won't be going anywhere for a while!

Here's some of the pics the breeder sent me today of him/her:

We won't know until we either do DNA or surgical testing if its a boy or a girl...I could care less right now! I'm already in a long distance relationship with her/him already it feels like!

From what the breeder said, she's already talking and knows "Love you" and "tickle, tickle"; s/he hatched the first week in May of this year, so the fact that s/he is already talking is a bonus!

Since we don't know the gender, I think we've decided on a gender neutral name: Jingo. How do you guys like it?
